Traveling abroad really helped me identify what careers I would like pursue for the future.
Before going on this trip, I wasn't quite sure what type of career I wanted to pursue. I was hoping that this trip would provide me with some direction in life in terms of what job is right for me.
When we visited the United States Embassy in India, I got a look into the life of a foreign service worker, and I fell in love with the position.
We visited many non-profits and even the United States Embassy. I learned first hand what these careers did and how they changed the lives of people around the world. I knew instantly that this is the type of career I would like to pursue in the future.
Moving forward
After visiting all the non-profits I began to seriously contemplate a career in the non-profit sector. I found that the job would be rewarding and it would allow me to interact with people around the world. I also found that a career in foreign service would be right up my alley as well. I have always felt that I am highly adaptable to situations and my skills work best with people, so I would prefer to be in a career that allowed me to practice the skills I felt most confident in.
While, I am still not 100% sure what i would want to do in the future, I am sure that I will work in a field that allows me to make an impact and meet people around the world.
