TESL Certification
To obtain the TESL Certification I had to take the required courses and then teach English to a class of visiting scholars. The lesson plans and classes were closely monitored by the Program director, Dr. Golombek. The internship required me to teach English to a class of visiting scholars twice a week for four weeks. All lesson plans had to be approved by the program director. We worked with a partner who would provide us feedback at the end of our teaching sessions.
BEBR/Department of Anthropology
The Bureau of Economic and Business research is a company headed by the Assistant Dean of The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The company does population projections, surveys, and network analysis for projects in the state of Florida. As an intern, I had to use the GIS map-making software to create a future land use map for the state of Florida. I was also in charge of the social media and recording team for the Department of Anthropology.
